Overview

Synopsis

Sanada North High School is an all-boys institution where the mundane is made magnificent through the sheer power of boredom. The story follows the "ordinary" lives of three best friends: the skeptical straight-man Tadakuni, the over-imaginative and dramatic Hidenori, and the loud, energetic Yoshitake. Eschewing the typical high school tropes of epic romances or sports championships, the series focuses on the absurdly relatable moments of teenage boyhood—from trying on a younger sister's skirt out of curiosity to telling increasingly ridiculous ghost stories and engaging in overly dramatic RPG roleplay in the middle of a public park. Each episode is a collection of vignettes that hilariously lampoons the awkwardness of growing up.

Librarian's Notes

One word: Absolute banger. After watching so many heart-pumping, traumatizing anime, I finally made a decision to change my genre and by some miracle, the first one I watched was "Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!" and then I don't know why or how, but I watched this right after—and I didn't regret it. It made me remember some fond memories of my childhood. Nothing much to say about this—an absolute comedy anime that will make you laugh out loud like crazy for hours. My only regret is there was no follow-up season, but that's expected since there's no particular overarching story here. So people looking for a change, try it! And yeah, if you've watched "Nichijou," you need to try this—both are absolute bangers in this genre.
