In a world where Devils are born from human fears, Denji is a desperately poor young man saddled with his deceased father's immense debt to the yakuza. He earns a living by hunting Devils, assisted by his faithful, tiny Chainsaw Devil companion, Pochita. Denji's entire life revolves around paying off his debt, his dreams extending no further than having three square meals a day and a girlfriend.*

One night, the yakuza betray and murder Denji. In his final moments, Pochita merges with Denji's heart, resurrecting him as a human-Devil hybrid known as Chainsaw Man. Armed with chainsaws protruding from his arms and head, Denji slaughters the Devils responsible.*

He is soon found by Makima, a high-ranking officer of the Public Safety Devil Hunters, a government organization. Makima offers Denji a choice: work for her, or be killed as a Devil. Denji chooses to work, thrilled by the promise of a stable life, shelter, and regular food. He joins a special squad alongside the fierce Blood Fiend Power and the quiet, professional Devil Hunter Aki Hayakawa, embarking on a brutal and bizarre career hunting powerful Devils while struggling to hold onto his own humanity and simple desires.
